On Saturday, the 9th of May in Vienna a world record was established. In one of the trade centers of the Austrian capital there was the longest restaurant table in the world served. The length of the table, consisting of 600 usual served tables was 1 kilometre and 175 meters.
40 waiters have laid 1800 place settings on the starched table-clothes with the total weight of 5 tons.
The previous record that was registered by Guinness World Records book was performed also in an Austrian place Schaerding, where in 2006 was a 1 kilometer and 36 meters long table served.
The organisers of the event say that the record itself was not the goal. The main task of the project was to show the world the art of the traditional Austrian serving. The waiters have managed it perfectly - the hypercritical victuallers who were invited as experts have considered the immaculate quality of the positioning of the pace settings and decorations on the longest table in the world. |
