In a month there will be the award ceremony in Portugal dedicated to the "new 7 wonders of the world". But the results of the world survey are already known. According to the survey that was performed by the touristic company Teletext Holidays, the first place got the Sydney Opera building. The second place took the Eiffel Tower which was visited by more that 200 millions of visitors since the opening in 1889. The third place took the "Burj al Arab" Hotel.
Matt Cheevers, the managing director of the Teletext Holidays says that it was surprising to see the La Manche tunnel as the member of the list. After it's opening, the travelers can easier visit the continental Europe. It's opening has really positively influenced the attitude of the Britons to the travel. The world community has though a little calmer attitude to the tunnel because it did not even get into the short-list (21 items) of the new seven wonders of the world. The official list will be published on the 7th of July.
So, the new seven wonders of the world are:
* Sydney Opera House
* Eiffel Tower
* Burj Al Arab Hotel, Dubai
* Statue of Christ the Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro
* Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco
* Empire State Building, New York City
* Channel Tunnel
