The tourists may now visit the place of living of Huckleberry Finn in the American town of Hannibal. As is well known, Huck Finn was based on Tom Blankenship, Mark Twain's childhood friend, the ingenious and funny son of a drunkard who lived in a ramshackle house on the bank of the Mississippi River.
The real Blankenship's house was destroyed in 1911. The hut has been reconstructed basing upon the photographs of that period by the owners of the Mark Twain's Museum, which is also situated in Hannibal. Visiting the Huck Finn's House from now on is going to be one of the points of the Museums regular guided tours among the number of "Mark Twain's famous places". |
