Infamous Helsinki prison situated in Katajanokka district has become a hotel since June, 2007. The old prison dates back to 1837, and functioned as a prison till 2002. The building has been fully renewed, a restaurant, bar, sauna, gym and a parking zone has been opened as well. Renovations cost a reported 15 million Eur.
Katajanokka is included into the Best Western Premier Hotel network. All rooms are equipped with the latest IT technology and offer up to date conference facilities. Katajanokka has to be much the best hotel of the Best Western network in Finland.
