Milan Airport "Linate" has to be closed this Sunday by local authorities. During several hours special team of hunters will be catching the hares which disturb the aircraft traffic.
According to the representatives of the airport's administration, about 80 hares inhabit the territory of "Linate". The animals often run on the take-off runways thus being the cause of radio-frequency interference and possible danger for taking off or landing aircraft passengers. Two hares have already got under the wheels of small airplanes during only two last weeks .
The whole territory of the airport will be fenced; the animals will be caught with special nets and taken to nearby wilderness areas.
The operation on catching the animals takes place annually, though this year it is the first time when the airport will be closed during several hours. |
