Spain: fiesta of "almost dead"

Annual Fiesta de Santa Marta Ribarteme will take place in Spanish town Las-Neves, district Galicia, on July, 29. St. Marta is the protectrix of the ressurected, and the people who take part in the festival are chiefly those who were within a hair of death.

Coffins with persons wishing to listen to the mass start to triumphantly arrive to the town church at 10 AM. Special feature of the festival is that the participants lie with decorum in the coffins which are carried by their friends or folks. Those who come to the festival alone have to carry the coffins by themselves. After the mass the parade makes tracks for the cemetery, then moves back to the church to receive the ministrations of a priest for those who "have fortunately missed the entrance into the dark house named Death",
