The festival of San Fermin, or Pumplona bull running as it is most commonly known outside Spain, started yesterday. During the festival giant bulls, each weighing half a ton, are running through the crowd of people walking the streets.
It was thanks to American writer Ernest Hemingway that San Fermin developed the notoriety of today. The publication of his novel "The Sun Also Rises" in 1926 told the world about the Pamplona bull running festival which attracted people from all over the world to this annual festival. Previous year Pamplona has been visited by 200 thousand people. According to the town administration, the number of people should arise this year. |
