Development of spa direction has been one of the main areas of focus in the program of promotion of tourism in Hungary during several previous years. Now, Hungarian National Tourist Office came to decision that aqua tourism should be promoted, and announced 2008 to be dedicated to the presentation of Hungarian aqua resources such as lakes, rivers and thermal baths. In spring and autumn time tourists will be offered to find out more about the possibilities of spa and wellness tourism, while winter will be the time for traveling down the Hungarian rivers and lakes.
The theme of the year was chosen basing on the results of the head count held among the travelers and with the participation of a hundred of experts. Hungarian National Tourist Office has also declared 2009 to be the year of cultural tourism, says the Hungarian Tourism Committee press release. |
