Italian gastrologists have boosted the prime-minister Zapatero's proposal to include 'Mediterranean diet' into the list of world's heritage alongside such objects as Great Coral Reef, Machu Pichu and Notre Dame, according to UNESO.
National Gourmand Association has declared that Mediterranean diet, including pasta, fruit, vegetables, olive oil and wine, is worth to be included into the list.
"The Mediterranean diet has been a part of Italy's cultural, historical, social and environmental heritage for centuries and has been closely linked to the lifestyles of the Mediterranean peoples throughout their history," Italy's largest farm association Coldiretti said.
