Tourism Councillor Augusto Salvatori is worried about tourism flows that are too high in Venice, due to the widespread phenomenon of quick visits, and, therefore, about costs, the environment and the decorum of the city. He is mostly worried about tourists that come only for one day. He proposed to establish a 'closed number of arrivals'.
Vice Prime Minister Francesco Rutelli doesn't agree with that point of view, declaring that 'this hypothesis is not even slightly feasible'. 'The livability of the city must be entrusted to strong measures, offering quality services and developing the transportation network', he added.
