The beginning of the holiday season in Europe has led to transport collapse.
In the German districts Bavaria and Bader-Wuertemberg the families are starting their trips in the early morning before the sunrise.
After the sunrise the traffic on the roads was totally stopped. On the south of Switzerland the traffic jam before the tunnel was about 10 kilometers. The Austrian tourists had even worse luck. Not far away from Salzburg they had to stay in 20 kilometer traffic jam to cross the tunnel in Alps. The French drivers have had also patience tests. Some of those have spent more than 9 hours in the car or at the side of the road on their way to the sea. |
