During one of the most risky arrangements in the modern naval history, "Queen Mary-2" will be the largest ship that goes through the "Golden Gate". On Sunday this marvellous sea-liner will take a tour through the San-Francisco bay.
This sea-walk will let the 2.638 passengers to take a look at the famous bringe from the bottom. This bridge became already the symbol of the city.
The ship has to sail 14.145 miles (22.759 km.) from Florida, round the South-american cape Horn and after that, on the Sunday evening get docked at San-Francisco. The journey will be continued on Monday when the ship will move out to Hawaii and after that crosses the southern part of the Pacific and visits Australia, Asia, Egypt and Europe. The return to Florida is planned in April.
The sea-liner is 40 meters wide and 339 meters long but the San-Francisco bay is quite shallow and troubled, that the allowable navigation falut is not more than 21 meter. The local pilot will take command over the ship right after the "Golden Gate". |
