The Minister of Tourism of Egypt Suair Garrana pays special attention to the development of the Sinai peninsula as a resort area, especially of its districts Taba and Nuweiba. The authorities are planning to transform them into the worldwide known tourist centres. These two regions are very promising as the Minister thinks, and the international experts agree with him. The Egyptian Federation of Tourism (ETF) has made a strategic research of the tourist market in order to transform Taba and Nuweiba in two big economic regions. The idea of creating new resorts at Sinai was offered in 2005 already. In the closest period of time the president will have a bill for signing which determines the basis of investment in future resorts of Sinai.
The Sinai peninsula belongs to Egypt. It is divided into two administrative parts - North Sinai and South Sinai. Its length is 58,842 square kilometres and the population is approximately 65,000 people in the South and 314,000 in the North.
The regions of Taba and Nuweiba are located in the Southern part of the peninsula. Here is located as well El Artsh whose coast is washed with the Mediterranean Sea and Sharm el Sheich - one of the most popular tourist centre at the coast of the Red Sea. Taba boarders Israel, and Nuweiba is one of the biggest oasis in the region.
