Three British grannies are knitting sweaters for penguins. They suppose that this is the way they could save the birds from oil patches. During the last several weeks, the old ladies have made about 50 sweaters that are about 40 centimeteter tall. The dimensions of the miniature birds were supplied by the Penguin Salvation Fond, located in Hampsted. This Fond is actually the destination of the first shipment.
Small blue penguins live on several small isles, located right near the ship routes and therefore are suffering from the leaks of the oil products. The sweaters are supposed to prevent the birds from freezing and swallowing the toxins from the feathers. |
