On November, 19, 2007 the French auction house Drouot will set out a part of the Tour d'Eiffel for sale.
There will be the part of a ladder with the length of 4,5 m and weight of 700 kg, which connected the second and third floors earlier, set out on auction. This section was dismantled in 1983, when lifts were established. Further the section had been divided into 20 small parts which were sold out to museums and private collections.
The organizers of the auction expect to sell the part of the Tour d'Eiffel for 30 thousand Euro. "It is a real segment of the Tour d'Eiffel with the same furnish", - David Nordmann, whose agency organizes the auction, told. "If you have ever dreamed to have a part of a ladder from the Tour d'Eiffel in your house, you have such a chance", - he added.
The Tour d'Eiffel was built on the occasion of the World fair in Paris in 1889. Annually about 5,5 million persons visit the Tour d'Eiffel which is one of the most popular sights of Paris. |
