Scientists ask not to eat parrot fish

10 Nov. 2007

Scientists appeal to the tourists not to order the parrot fish dishes on the Caribbean Sea resorts. The unique coral reefs are in a serious danger: the population of sea-urchins, nourished on the destructive for the corals seaweeds, has entirely disappeared, and the only "corps men" of these places remained the parrot fishes.

At the moment, more that 80% of Caribbean reefs are damaged. Ecologists intend to get local authorities involved in conservation of natural islands' resources, as well as to forbid using for food uncommon representatives of reef's fauna.
