The Ministry of culture of Egypt has decided to limit the number of visitors of the tomb of pharaoh Tutankhamen up to 400 people per day.
They take such measures for preservation of the tomb. According to the words of Zahi Havasa, the head of the Supreme Council of Antiquities in Egypt, 200 people will be able to visit the tomb in the first half of the day, and 200 people more - during afternoon.
Recently the general public has seen a face of Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamen for the first time during three thousand years.
Egyptian authorities have made such a decision not only in order to please tourists and experts-Egyptologists, but also to save the mummy.
The matter is that recent researches have shown that further being of the mummy in its original sarcophagus can lead to its damage and even loss.
And on the 1st of May, 2008 the tomb of Tutankhamen near Luxor will be closed for restoration which has not taken place since 1922 when it was discovered by British archeologist Howard Carter. |
