All lovers of a good French wine will appreciate this holiday according to its merit. It is usual to degust Beaujolais of a new yield, which is produced in Burgundy in the region of Beaujolais, on the third Thursday of November during some hours. This tradition is originated from XIX century.
In order to glorify their drink, the French wine-makers from Beaujeau declared the third Thursday of November a holiday of wine of a new yield, and this has led to essential increase in sales of this wine.
Nowadays this holiday is celebrated not only in France, but also abroad.
Everything begins in Beaujeau, when wine-makers with torches made from a grapevine appear on the central square of the city where there are already barrels with wine. Exactly at midnight they take out bungs and place glasses under jets of wine. From this moment Beaujolais Nouveau starts the procession through the world.
Already on Thursday in all shops, cafes and bars of France they taste wine, and in restaurants there are numerous competitions for, for example, "a gold bottle". |
