In Germany they opened the season of carnivals, which is called 'fifth season" there. According to the tradition every year they open this holiday on November, 11th at 11.11.11 a.m. with costume processions. Cologne becomes the carnival center of Germany, but there will be outdoor festivities also in the other cities of the Rhenish region - Dusseldorf, Bonn, Koblenz, Mainz. Thousands of people take part in these costume processions annually. Festivities last till the beginning of the Lent. And the present season will be short because of the early Easter: in catholic countries it will take place on March, 23th, and the Lent will begin on February, 3rd. |
