The penalty for crossing Dubai streets not at special pedestrian crossings will be 500 dirhams (approximately 136 dollars). The pedestrians, who break the rules of crossing, can be imprisoned by one month.
These new rules for crossing the street in Dubai will come into effect from February of the next year. They cover all city mains where the regulation car speed exceeds 80 km/hours.
Brigadier Mohammed az Zafin, the director of the Central administrative board of road traffic has informed about introducing the amendments providing new penal measures concerning pedestrians into the local legislation.
These amendments do not provide increase of penal sanctions for other traffic violations. They cover internal roads in free zones, including the district of Jebel Ali, area of ports and the airport. |
