About one million tourists have visited Colombia during this year. According to the entrance statistics, 966 thousand foreigners have visited the country from January till December; this is 13 % more, than in 2006. The government attributes this growth of entrance tourism to realized advertising campaigns, democratic changes and stable security.
The greatest number of these foreign visitors has arrived from the USA, Venezuela, Ecuador and Spain. Bogotá and Cartagena became places that are mostly visited by foreigners.
Trade and Tourism Minister Luis Guillermo Plata has informed that the international tourism has brought income of about 8 billion dollars to the treasury of Colombia; this is 8 % more in comparison with the last year's parameters. |
