The largest Christmas Fair has been opened in France

In Strasbourg that is often called the Christmas capital of the France there has been the most famous in the country Christmas fair opened. The tradition to set up Christmas fairs came up here already in XVI-th century. Christkindelsmarik - or the "Fair of the Child Jesus" - in this year takes place in Strasbourg 437th time. Due to the specially selected decorations and the illumination, the Elsas capital looks like a fairy tale town. There is no such town in the country where such a warn atmosphere would be created, linking German and French traditions so tightly.

During the 5 weeks of the fair about 2 million tourists visit it - approximately the same amount as for the whole summer period. The schedule of the holiday includes about 500 events. In the churches and exhibition areas there will be spectacles and concerts of the choirs and orchestras, The tourists will have the opportunity to visit the exhibitions of the icons and dens of the XIX-th century. In this year - the special guest of the fair is the Canadian province Quebec that will present their Christmas celebration traditions.

At the main square of the city - there is installed a 30 meter Christmas tree, which decorations are created in he colors symbolizing Strasbourg and Quebec. In spite of the lack of the snow, the smells of carnation, almond, glintwein and cinnamon remind about the coming holiday.
