Cambodian authorities plan to attract well-to-do foreign tourists in the country. For this purpose safari-tours shall be developed in Cambodia, within which foreigners shall be able to hunt in the jungles in the north-east of the country. The Spanish company "Nsok Safaris" has already developed a plan for construction of a five-star campus in Cambodian jungles where hunters shall comfortably rest after a wearing safari. Besides, the list including 30 names of mammals, birds and reptiles authorized for catching and shooting in the wood reserve with the total area of 100 thousand hectares, has been approved.
Conservation organizations have traditionally raised concerns, stating that this can lead to a real ecologic catastrophe. However, officials think that issue of chargeable licenses for shooting animals shall contribute to safety of species much more than uncontrolled and illegal activities of poachers. |
