As stated by the press service of the US Department in Washington, the cost of the consular fees during document feeding for the receipt of a USA non-immigrant visa will rise from today's 100 dollars to 131 dollars, beginning from the January 1 of the year 2008.
Among the reasons of tariffs' boost, the Department of State names inflation, the necessity of expenses on innovative technologies and protection of visas, and also the FBI invoices issued to the State Department for the processing of the fingerprints from both hands, which are taken during the reception of visa documents.
"We are now taking 10 fingerprints from each applicant, and the cost set by FBI for the processing of these fingerprints doesn't allow us anymore to do this," the press service explains.
It was underlined that "100 dollar tax for machine-readable visa is fewer than the real price for processing of non-immigrant visas."
The Department of State reminds that the last time visa fee was raised five years ago - in the year 2002. |
