The Turkish railways are planning to begin with the testing of the high-speed railway between Ankara and Eskishehir. The testing begins with smaller speeds, but later they should be raised up to 250 km/h. A regular traffic at this speed should be established by the end of the year. The train will overcome the distance between these two cities in 75 minutes.
The extension of this line to Istanbul should be ready in two years. After this, the traveling time between Istanbul and Ankara should be shortened to 3 hours. This will happen in the end of 2009 according to the plans. |
