One of the highest Asian statues of Jesus Christ has appeared in the world's largest country by the number of the Muslim population - Indonesia. Henceforth the 30-meters statue towers above the city Manado on the island Sulawesi.
The idea of creation of the snow-white monument to the God's Son, raising his hands to the sky, belongs to the local real estate agency, which decided to attract tourists and pilgrims from all over the world in such an unusual way. The 60-tons monument had been erected within three years. It costed 611 thousand dollars.
According to the Indonesian Museum of records, the 27-meters sculpture of Christ in the capital of East Timor - Dili occupies the second place by its height in Asia. |
