Tourists Have Been Frightened by Llaima Volcano

4 Jan. 2008

Life-savers evacuated more than 200 tourists who were celebrating the New Year, as well as several hundreds of local citizens horror-stricken by the awaken volcano in Chile.

Tourists were celebrating the New Year near the three thousand meter high Llaima Volcano, situated in the south of the country. People took no delight in the "firework" of fire and ashes risen in the sky for more than one kilometer.

All roads were blocked by the stormy streams of melted ice. Life-savers had to use special equipment to evacuate people who were taken captive.

It is still unknown when local citizens shall be able to return to their homes.
