The three tourists who lost their way in the mountains of an Australian National Park "Grampians" have saved themselves thanks to mobile telephones with photo cameras of high quality.
A man, 46 years old, traveled with his son of 14 years old and a niece of the same age. Soon the tourists realized that they lost their way. They called the keepers of the park using a mobile phone but couldn't describe exactly their whereabouts. Then one of them realized that it was necessary to take a photo of the view around them and to send it to the guards so that they would be able to find them.
By the received pictures the guards realized quite quickly where to search them, and a police helicopter was sent to a set place. The family was found and successfully brought to home.
The inspector Martin Doorman has reported that the photo taken by the smart travelers and sent to the guards by means of SMS, has helped for their rescue very much. Thanks to the photo it was possible to find the lost tourists within several hours, but if they didn't have it, the search could take several weeks. |
