Mass Exchange of Light Bulbs Started in Argentine

10 Jan. 2008

The employees of energy companies knock at the doors of houses and offer each family to exchange their ordinary light bulbs for the energy-saving ones. This campaign is not a joke, but a part of the government's plan on saving the energy. Summer in Southern hemisphere is all-time hot this year. Argentineans have celebrated New Year at a temperature of 40C above zero.

In order to save energy the government has also decided to set forward the clocks one hour, supposing that if it gets dark at a later time, people will spend less energy. The majority of population has accepted the authorities' initiative with enthusiasm.
