The authorities of Thailand, that is very popular among tourists, have banned smoking in night clubs, bars and open-air markets.
The restraints will come into force on the 17th of February. They will apply to all the covered entertaining places. The owners of opened cafes and restaurants will have to allocate non-smoking areas. Earlier tobacco smoking in Thailand was forbidden only in pubs.
The fine for smoking in unauthorized places will consist of 2 thousand baht (about $68).
"The authorities suppose that owners of night clubs will resist. They may think that it will damage their business, but it will be good for their clients and workers' health" - the representative of The Public Health Ministry of Thailand Hatai Chitanonda said. |
