The Biggest in the World Sculpture from Ice and Snow Erected in China

12 Jan. 2008

The famous Chinese "Ice and Snow" festival has set up a record: a grand snow sculpture of unprecedented size - the height of 34.5 meters and the length of 197 meters, was erected in Harbin.

The impressive composition named "Romantic Feelings" was constructed from fifteen blocks of natural ice taken from the flowing nearby Songhua river. The ensemble was supplemented by the number of other ice beauties, among which - Russian churches and French cathedrals, Chinese palaces and Athenian Acropolis. According to The Daily Mail, the ice Stonehenge appeared here in honor of Great Britain - the hostess of Olympic Games of the year 2012.

Harbin was always famous for its severe frosts (35 C below zero - is the common winter temperature here), that is why, the icy magnificence will delight the eye for a long time. By the most conservative estimate, at least 800 thousands of tourists will come here to admire the creations of Chinese sculptors.
