In Sant'Eraclio, a small town of Italian province Umbria, the Youth Carnival (Carnevale dei Ragazzi) will take place for the 47th time. It will be lasting from the 26th of January until the 12 of February, i.e. until the "Rich Tuesday", the last day of the holiday before the "Ashy Wednesday" when the Catholic Lent begins. On Sundays including the 27th of January, the 3rd and the 10th of February, beginning at 15:00 tourists will be able to watch street carnival processions, parades of papier-mache, accompanied by hundreds of maskers, musicians and dancers, and on the last Sunday they will be able to watch a pyrotechnical show.
A ticket will cost 5 euro, but children and also adults with carnival dresses will have free admission. People will be able to visit the "Carnival Tavern" that will be opened only for the period of the carnival. The clients will be offered a manifold menu of traditional national dishes. This year those who will visit the tavern will have the opportunity for the first time to watch the exhibition "Carnival MailArt" (MailArt is a kind of the art of the second half of the 20th century, its followers position all kinds of mail messages as an artistic method). |
