The authorities of Paris have found the way to reuse natural firs that are thrown away in a big amount by city dwellers after Christmas holidays. They will be used as composts in local parks.
The action "Give another life to your fir" that has been organized by the initiative of the Parisian administration will last until the 20th of January. 65 receiving points work in the capital of France. More than 4 thousand Christmas trees have been already collected.
Before now a big amount of firs has been thrown away and then brought to the special places where they were burned. But now they will be processed into mulch (a special substance that protects ground from evaporation and freezing). The ground of Parisian parks will be treated with this substance for the protection of trees and bushes. But the firs for processing must not be covered with artificial dye stuff.
The authorities of Paris are going to use this method for all the 450 parks and gardens of the city. |
