Ancient Egyptian pyramids of Giza were claimed to be the most attractive sight in the world, and were honored with the prize from World Tourism Organization, a so to called "Oscar" of the world of tourism. The reward was handled to the Egypt's representatives during the festivity on the occasion of 14 years since the establishment of this international organization
167 thousand people from amongst the specialists in tourist industry and all interested people from 160 countries took part in voting for the best of the best.
Every year millions of tourists come to Cairo in order to see with their own eyes the only left wonder from the seven wonders of the world - Great Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure on the Giza Plateau.
It is considered that they were built more than 4.5 thousand of years ago as burial vaults for pharaohs. However, lots of their mysteries such as exact age, purpose, and the means of construction are not solved yet - traditional scientific theories were questioned many times and are changed by plentitude of new hypotheses. |
