The interdiction of smoking in all entertaining institutions, places of public catering and even in the markets, including those, which are located in the open-air, will come into play in Thailand since February, 17th. The penalty for infringement will come to 2 thousand baht (about $68). Before, smoking in Thailand was forbidden only in the covered places of public catering. Now the owners of the open cafes and restaurants should allocate special zones for non-smoking clients.
The Ministry of Public Health in Thailand expects objections from the owners of night clubs and pubs. But Thai officials are assured, that taken measures will be beneficial to the health of both: the staff of these institutions and the clients. |
