The traditional festival of citrus plants is inaugurated on the beach in the French resort Cote d'Azur. In the streets of the town, during the three weeks of the festival from the 16th of February until the 5th of March, the organizers will be carrying out a testing of dishes and drinks of citrus plants, also diverse parades with the participation of folklore and musical bands will be arranged in honor of limes, oranges and grapefruits.
This unique event, which is the second by popularity after the carnival in Nice and the Grand-Prix of Formula-1 in Monaco, attracts about 230 000 of tourists every year.
About 300 specialists and approximately 145 tons of citrus fruits are engaged in the festival.
This year "World's Islands" was chosen as a theme of the holiday. It is a kind of invitation to a journey - citrus-fanciers will determine which insular resorts are the best on their opinion. |
