The Times has published the ten finalists of the national British competition "The Best fish with potato"; it is already the 20-th competition; cafes, small restaurants and shops from all the country - with the well-known English dish - fish and chips, that is fish with fried potato - participate in it. Such organizations as Seafish, British Potato Council and National Federation of Fish Friers were judges of the competition: they estimated level of service, cleanliness of an establishment and its kitchen, quality of initial products and, certainly, of the dish itself.
Family Scottish cafe Townhead, located in Biggar, has taken the first place: they serve you with perfectly prepared haddock there. Welsh small restaurant Taylor's Fish and Chips, located in Pennygraig with specialization in cod, haddock, flounder and lobsters, is on the second place. Third place - legendary small restaurant Tommy's Fish and Chips, which is more than 40 years old; you can taste different kinds of pollock there. It is located in Ballykelly, a small town in Northern Ireland. Colman's of South Shields, Seniors, Andy's Fish Bar, Boundary, McDermott's Fish & Chips, Broughton Fish & Chips and Hanbury's Fish & Chips are also among finalists. The winner of this competition will be announced in the nearest future. |
