Orange - it's not only a tasty fruit, but also a... weapon. At least, it is used as a weapon by the citizens of the Italian city of Ivrea, who fight using citrus fruits.
The history of this holiday has roots stretching back into the Middle Ages. According to a legend, citizens had raised a revolt against the local feudal. People have hunted away the cruel landlord and his security guards using ordinary rocks.
The victory's anniversary is celebrated annually, only there are oranges used instead of rocks. |
