The plan of the building of the world's longest arch bridge, costing 817 billion dollars, was announced in Dubai.
The Department of Transport told that the building of the bridge will take 4 years, it will be 1,600 meters long, the arches will be 205 meters in height, and the arch span will be 667 meters long.
The bridge, when it is built, will be bigger than the Lupu Bridge in Shanghai which is now considered to be the longest one in the world, its length is 3 900 meters, the arch span is 550. The arch span is a generally accepted measure for the determination of the size of a bridge.
The new bridge will connect the urban districts Bar-Dubai and Deira and will become the sixth passage across the Bay (now the shores of the Bay connect the tunnel Shindaga, the Al-Maktoum Bridge, the Ponton Bridge, the Al-Garhoud Bridge, and the Business Bay Crossing). The width of the arched bridge will be 64 meters, 12 traffic lanes will be built there and a metro line will be laid on the center. The arched bridge is one of the biggest projects of the Department of Transport. Today the investments of the Department of Transport in different projects, aimed to make the urban traffic easier, are 22 billion dollars. |
