A skycap got a medal for helping to arrest the terrorists in Glasgow

5 Mar. 2008

A skycap at the airport of Glasgow was given a medal by Queen Elizabeth for his courage displayed when some terrorists tried to blow up a car at the airport in summer, 2007.

On the 30th of June, 2007, John Smiton came out to the building of the airport to have a smoke during a break and saw a burning car moving to the terminal. He called the police and also helped to arrest the people who were in the car trying to leave the site of occurrence.

When Smiton was asked if he considered himself to be a hero, he answered that heroes are those who fight in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The act of terror attempt was connected with the revealing of 2 wired cars in London. Then the highest level of terrorism threat was introduced in Great Britain.
