The first snow in New York at Wednesday. Big snowflakes were falling from the sky for only 15 minutes and disappeared as quick as they came. But this short snowfall was enough for the meteorologists to declare the first snow event and also to mention that so late was it only 129 years ago.
The previous record was registered in 1878 when the first snowfall was on the 4th of January. Actually, the present winter has already surprised us several times, for example, instead of a snowfall on the New Year's Eve there was a heavy rain instead. And in the past Saturday the air temperature in the city was 21 Centigrade!
The current winter, according to the meteorologists will come into history as one of the most warm ones. But this winter can set up one another record in the history of New York - the most snowless one ever. The previous record was in 1972-1973 when for the whole winter there was a total of 7 cm of snow.
