No lights in Dubai for an hour.

29 Mar. 2008

On the 29-th of March at 20:00 local time there will be no lights in Dubai. During this hour in the whole city, in the administrative and living buildings, on the roads and in the parks only the most necessary lights will be left. In this way Dubai plans to celebrate the "Earth Hour" event, being held according to the international campaign for the protection of the environment. The state departments of the Emirate and largest local companies including hotel network Jumeirah, will take part in this activity.

It is expected that during the "Earth Hour" about 20% of the daily electricity expenses will be saved, what will become the Dubai contribution to the struggle against the greenhouse effect.
