These days the capital of USA celebrated the National Cherry Blossom Festival that lasts for more than two weeks and attracts yearly thousands of tourists from the whole world. People try to come to parks already in the night or in the early morning to enjoy the sight of the blossoming sakura and to sail in boats on the Potomac river.
Already in 1912 the mayor of Tokyo Yukio Ozaki, being informed about the love of the wife of the president of that time to sakura, has granted to the Washington city three thousands saplings. The festival is being held since 1935. |
