The meteorologists predict that in 2008 it will be a little bit solder on the Earth in comparison with the previous year. The general secretary of the World Meteorological Association, Michel Jarraud has announced that the average temperature on the planet will probably fall by a fraction of a grade because of the cooling effect La Nina.
El Nino and La Nina - are the two unique natural phenomenons, that are found in the equatorial part of the Pacific. And if El Nino is characterized by warm currents, La Nina cools the water surface of the Pacific at least by 0,5 grades lower than the average level. El Nino warms the planet and La Nina cools down.
If the WMA forecast will be confirmed, this will strengthen with arguments a theory that is nowadays not so popular, that tell us that the peak of the global warming is already in the past.
However, Jarraud affirms that in spite of the slight cold spells, the 2008 temperatures will be still above the average indicators of the XX-th century. |
