According to the information of the Colombian Institute of geology and mountaineering, the volcano located in 240 kilometers to the south-west from the capital of the state - Bogota, has thrown an ash column into the air and several thousands of the local inhabitants were evacuated because of the lava risk. There are about 15 thousands of people living in the surrounding area.
The Nevado del Huila volcano is the tallest active volcano in Colombia, with the height of 5370 meters. The last eruption has happened in 2007 and this was the first one since 1555.
Recently, on the 20-th of March at the American Hawaii islands there was an explosion in the Kilauea volcano crater that has resulted the collapse of the rocks that has hit the territory with the area of approximately 30 hectares, where a popular touristic resort was located. |
