Netherlands are flooded with false euro.

In 2007 the amount of the revealed false euro-banknotes has been increased in comparison with 2006 by 75%. 36 439 contrafact euros have been found and taken out of the turnover. The first place in the fake amount rating takes the 50-euro banknote, the second one - the 100-euro banknote. According to the specialists of the Bank of Netherlands, a gang of coiners has got active in the country, what explains the sharp growth of the fakes in the turnover. In spite of the increased control in the shops, the tourists should be very careful while dealing with cash.

In total, in the European Union countries, according to the European Central Bank data, in the past year 561 thousand of false euro-banknotes has been revealed. This is slightly less than in 2006. The false money make a very small amount in the total turnover volume of the paper euro, that made up 11,4 billion in 2007.
