Alcohol in public transport in London prohibited

7 May. 2008

From the 1-st of June it will be prohibited to drink alcoholic drinks in the public transport. This novelty has been announced on Wednesday by the new London mayor - Boris Johnson after the meeting with the director of the transport department of the city Peter Henry.

The future restriction, according to the mayor, is a part of his program against the asocial behavior in the city, and in particular inside of the public transport.

"I am completely sure that if we get rid of so-called small crime, we will be able to face more serious crime,- says Johnson.- that is why the alcoholic drinks in subway, trams, buses and trains will be prohibited starting from the 1-st of June. I am sure that this measure will be welcomed by the passengers and personnel".
