8 May. 2008

"City tourism, or "city breaks" become more and more popular way of rest. In 2006 the main cities of Europe attracting tourists have "earned" 540 from these visits. Since that time the annual revenue from the "city tourism" grows by 19 million euro yearly. Such figures are stated in the research of the company European Cities Marketing. According to their data, the annual growth of the touristic overnight stops in the European cities made up 600 thousands.

The important role in this situation has played the development of the cheap airfares segment, which turnover has increased in 2008 by 14%. The most part of the tourists have welcomed those cities where the budget airlines land: Cologne, Dublin, Tallinn, Zürich and others. At that, the "city tourism" is one of the most quickly developing touristic routes. Currently it's part makes 40% of the total number of travels across Europe.
