In favor of the incoming Olympic Games that will take place in Peking, Portugal has issued special coins with the 2,5 euro value. The coins from the alloy of copper and nickel are pressed in the amount of 487 500 pieces. Their design has been developed by the Portuguese sculptor Jose Teixeira.
The coins with the 2,5 euro value have been issued for the first time. They can be obtained as change in the Continente supermarkets network around the whole country. Besides, in Portugal there were also coins with the value of 1,5 euro issued in the amount of 350 000 pieces and 0,25 euro, issued in the limited series in the amount of 30 000 pieces. |
