The Brooklyn bridge - one of thy New York symbols - celebrates it's 125-th anniversary. This event has been celebrated with a colourful fireworks. The city authorities have decided to arrange a five-days long celebration: there will be a lot of concerts and a fire show.
Many people think that this old New York bridge is the eighth world miracle. It's length is 1825 meters and it connects Brooklyn and Manhattan, crossing the East-River.
The construction of the Brooklyn bridge has taken 13 years and it cost 15 million dollars. It's stone towers in the neo-Gothic style were at that time the tallest constructions in New York. The bridge has been especially constructed so tall for the trade vessels with high masts that should have easily passed under the bridge. |
